It was called Nuestra Señora
de La Luz.
When the Dominican Friars finished the works of the Church of Santo Domingo in 1559, some time later the foundations of the building were yielding by the side of this street. The Dominicans decided to construct abutments which can be seen nowadays, and this is why the street became more narrow and was called Callejón de los Estribos.
