Was called Plaza de la Catedral before ending the construction of the Cathedral of Cartagena at the beginning of the XVIIth century. Later on it would be called Plaza del Cabildo, since the town council operated in one of its buildings. Then it was named Plaza del Palacio to then be renamed Plaza de la Proclamación on November 11th of 1811, the historical day when the people got together at this plaza to support the signers of the Act of Independence. |
